- Everything in life is a choice. Don’t succumb to peer pressure. “What would Jesus Do?”. You would rather be alone than to hang out with people who get you to do bad things.
- Heart is the most important (Kindness). This more important than your intellect, which is more important than your physical strength.
- Strive to always do the right thing even if you don’t feel like it (character).
- A lot of people in our society have body image issues. Heavy weightlifting/extreme dieting is a great way to destroy your body and takes up a lot of time. If you get into expensive supplements or drugs then the risk is multiplied. Pro athletes were given gifts by God – they take on these risks because it is their job. You only have a finite amount of time, money, energy and health. Unless it is your calling to be a pro athlete, stick with running, walking, rec sports or light exercise. The girl or guy you want will primarily be into your kindness – not your six pack or biceps.
- Not everything in life is a battle to be won. Pick and choose your battles. Being ultra competitive in everything is not a good thing. Kindness is more important than winning. It is never OK to win by cheating or bullying and if you do win you should be kind to your opponents.
- As a kid you think you know everything. You don’t, listen to your elders.
- When in trouble or unsure about something reach out for help. People do care about you and are able to provide support/advice. Don’t internalize your problems. They only get worse – Teachers, parents, therapists, pastors, God and prayer.
