As with the dating page, the lessons on this page are critical to teach starting in Middle School. Middle School is very different than Elementary School. In Elementary School you are just a child. In Middle School though, you start to figure out what it means to be ‘Cool’. Questions about identity start to arise – where do I fit in? What kinds of kids do I want to hang out with?

1. Your 5 closest friends affect you way more than you think. Choose wisely. It is ok to not fit in or be alone. Try to shoot for friends who are more like Jesus and less like the world.
2. If your friends all play Basketball, then you will end up playing Basketball. You aren’t going to sit around and just watch them. If they do drugs then you are going to end up doing drugs, etc. Don’t hang out with bad influences.
3. Finally, with the above taken into account, we don’t associate with or listen to racists, misogynists or apostates. These people move you away from God (loving God, loving neighbor).
